Stormwater SMART Outreach Coordinator, AmeriCorps Members - Piedmont Triad Regional Council [March 2015-Present]
Create outreach materials such as blogs, newsletters, flyers, brochures and programs to expand participation on environmental education events; provide outreach for PTRC at local fairs and festivals; assist in providing hands-on environmental education activities; establish a volunteer policy for Stormwater Smart; recruit, train and lead volunteers during conservation activities such as water quality monitoring, storm drain marking, rain garden building, litter removal, etc.; assist in development of a disaster preparedness program


Research

Small Mammal Research Assistant - University of Arizona [May 2014-August 2014]
Assisted a graduate student in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment with field research as part of her thesis, focusing on Cliff Chipmunks (Tamius dorsalus) behavior and dispersal habits; participated in trapping efforts, handling and data recording, biangulation telemetry, behaviroal and nest observations, and data entry and management.

Nature Research Center - Biodiversity Lab [January 2013-January 2014]

Assisted research technicians with dissection of coyote scat, camera trap calibrations and research and compilation of camera trap images.

Conservation Intern - Piedmont Wildlife Center; [May 2013-August 2013;141 Hours]

Participated in an ongoing study of Eastern Box Turtle Populations using Radio Telemetry; participated in various conservation efforts including: Constructing wildlife gardens, assembling and installing nest boxes, and coordinating and retrieving data from trail cameras; was involved with raptor handling and care as well as general animal handling and care procedures of education animals (snakes, turtles, dove, bearded dragon, and chickens). I also helped coordinate and participate in a 24-hour species inventory of Leigh Farm Park, called the BioBlitz and helped coordinate WildNet, a wildlife rehabilitation hotline. [Learn more here.]
